It's The Gloomiest Day of the Year.

Feeling particularly bleak today?  Have no motivation?  Want to just stay in bed until Spring? Me too.  But just what is causing us to feel this way?

Elementary my dear Watson.  It's January 19, the gloomiest day of the year.

No really.  Scientists say so.  Yep.  Experts proved it: January 19 is the gloomiest day of the year. It's the day when all the powers of evil statistically converge to drive all the joy and hope out of the world.

Just what are these powers of evil, you ask?
  • post-Christmas withdrawal is at its peak today, according to Psychologists
  • post-Christmas debt is most likely to rear its ugly head today in the form of credit card statements
  • the weather is statistically some of the worst of the year today, killing the hope of Spring
  • add to that the economic woes the media rapidly hurls at us this year, and you've got a recipe for disaster
So there you have it.  How to overcome this day of despair?  I'd recommend waffles.  Lots of waffles.
